• Anxiety disorders include an array of conditions that cause worry, fear, or panic that negatively affects your quality of life. Common anxiety disorders include obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and phobias.

  • ADHD develops when parts of your brain develop differently. These changes affect how you think and act, interfering with your ability to regulate emotions and behaviors.

All children may struggle to sit still or pay attention from time to time. However, kids with ADHD have more frequent emotional and behavioral challenges. As a result, they often have difficulties with schoolwork and have a hard time socializing with others.

ADHD is often diagnosed between ages 4-7, but the condition may go undiagnosed until adolescence or even adulthood.

  • Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, causes mood swings between mania and depression (high and low moods). There are three types of bipolar disorder, and each type has different symptoms:

  • Many people think that depression is the same thing as having “the blues.” However, the blues often goes away, while depression tends to linger. You can have a mild case of depression, or major depressive disorder (MDD). Your symptoms can be mild, moderate, or severe.

Losing a job, going through a breakup, moving, or having a major life transition are often causes of depression. But constant stress, managing a chronic illness, or grieving can also lead to depression. You might become depressed without a clear cause as well.

While the cause of depression is complex, scientists often link depression to an imbalance in neurotransmitters (brain chemicals).

Without proper treatment, you can feel depressed for several weeks or longer.

  • Two main mood disorders are depression and bipolar disorder, which consists of depression cycled with feelings of extreme excitability (mania). These conditions negatively affect your mood and are often debilitating when left untreated. See Dr. DeLuca at the first sign of a problem.

  • Psychotic disorders are mental health conditions that cause abnormal perceptions, thinking, and behavior patterns. They can be very serious when left untreated. Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and delusional disorders are common psychotic disorders Dr. DeLuca can treat.

  • Psychiatric evaluations are comprehensive mental health assessments that Dr. DeLuca offers to all of his patients. He reviews your medical history, mental health background, education, and developmental history to get an in-depth picture of your overall mental health and wellness.

  • PTSD, also known as post-traumatic stress disorder, develops when people experience traumatic events that cause severe emotional distress. It can be a dangerous event, a threatened one, or something you have heard from a close family member or friend.

    PTSD often develops from:

    • Military duty

    • Physical or emotional abuse

    • Physical or sexual assault

    • Domestic violence

    • Death of a loved one

    • Natural disasters

    • Car, plane, or train accidents

You can develop PTSD after a single traumatic event or a series of events. For example, you might have been in a single car accident that leaves trauma or experienced more than one natural disaster.

  • Schizophrenia is a mental health disorder that affects how people interpret the world around them. It causes symptoms that make it look as though people have lost touch with reality. However, these symptoms are very difficult for the person experiencing schizophrenia and those around them.

Symptoms make it challenging for people to manage daily responsibilities. Fortunately, schizophrenia treatment can help you improve your condition and live an independent life.

  • Sleep-related issues reduce sleep quantity, quality, or both. Common sleep problems you may encounter that can diminish job functioning, school performance, or interpersonal relationships include insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, circadian rhythm disorders, restless leg syndrome, and high-complexity sleeping problems.

Dr. DeLuca works with you to develop a highly effective treatment for sleep-related issues to help you get a better night’s rest and reduce unpleasant symptoms of sleep deprivation.
